National Audit Office training scheme

National Audit Office AAT Fast Track Scheme
Audit Technician Trainee
£20,239
This is an ideal opportunity to gain some of the best accountancy training in the capital. An independent organisation responsible for auditing the accounts of government agencies, we’re offering a four-year training contract – plus all the help you’ll need – to gain the AAT qualification, leading to the ICAEW professional accountancy and ACA qualifications.
Working across the whole range of NAO client departments and travelling to various UK locations to conduct audit work, you’ll gain experience in testing financial systems, carrying out approved audit programmes and fully documenting fieldwork. Throughout your time here, you’ll receive paid block release to attend college, time off to revise for and sit your exams, and financial assistance to cover course fees and all study materials.
We’re looking for candidates with strong organisation and communication skills, plus high levels of drive and resilience. You’ll need to be a UK national with a minimum of five GCSEs or equivalent at grades A to C, including English and Maths, and three ‘A’ levels at an average of three grade Bs (24 UCAS points or 300 new tariff). With our support and your dedication, you’ll successfully complete the programme and, subject to staffing requirements, receive the offer of a permanent position as Audit Principal.
Application forms are available from the recruitment team at
vacancies@nao.gsi.gov.uk and should be submitted by 18th September 2006. Applicants who are selected for the next stage will be invited to a preliminary interview and numerical ability test. Candidates successful at this stage will be invited to attend a one-day assessment centre consisting of a range of exercises and a further interview.
